Dr Roi Ankhkara Kwabena, former Senator (in T'dad & T'bago-1992-1994) was recently awarded for his distingushed contribution to the diverse communities of Birmingham UK. This award came from L.I.T.E.(LOVE IS TRUE EXPRESSION) a UK based community organisation. Previously this City appointed him as their Poet Laureate in 2002.


Actively involved in Literature Development and Cultural literacy, Roi has been instrumental in the establishment of Black History Month commemorations across the English Midlands. He once served as a former co-chair of Birmingham Partnership Against Racial Harrasement.


Currently chairperson of the writers collective: WRITERS WITHOUT BORDERS, Roi is also the European Representative of the IAAR (International Alliance Against Racism, Xenophobia and related Intollerance.)The IAAR is based in St Lucia and as a UN registered body will convene an international conference on REPARATIONS for Violations of Human Rights (1492- 1962) in 2004.
