Apart from the original names of the islands many words have survived in various languages spoken in the Caribbean and the wider world. Among these are Tobacco, TAPIA (dwelling House), HURRICANE and PONE (cake) apart from the names of places. For example in the island of KAIRI ( aka Trinidad ) the following names are of sizeable towns, mountains, rivers and other areas: NAPARIMA,GUIACO, PARIA, ARIPO, ORINICO, NAVARIA, ARIMA, GUANAPO, OROPOUCHE, CUREPE, TOCO, GUAPO, CHAGUANAS, TAGARIGUA and

CHAGARAMAS.
